OUTBACK INVITATIONAL

"Showtime Basketball showed us  a tour  of Australia I will never forget.

If you’re thinking about going don’t think, just do, you’ll thank me"

James Jones - Head Men's Basketball Coach - Yale University

The world is becoming more global each day, Showtime Basketball have formed the "Outback Invitational" where we will use sport as a vehicle to provide a unique cultural exchange for young people across the globe.

The Outback Invitational is a one of a kind event combining travel to world’s #1 bucket list destination together with an international basketball tournament.

The USA Select teams will take on the club and high school programs across Australia, but the real fun begins after the last shots are made. Explore the history and beauty of the iconic cities of Melbourne and Sydney. Visit the famous Harbor Bridge, hop aboard a harbor ferry past the spectacular views of the Opera House en route to Manly Beach. Feel the sand beneath your feet at Bondi Beach before you take a swim at one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.

In Melbourne, feel the rush and excitement of an Aussie Rules football game, walk the European style streets and laneways while also taking time out from the tournament to meet the most lovable wildlife residents, kangaroos and koalas.

This really is the trip of a lifetime.

Showtime have a long history of bringing basketball teams from all over Australia to compete across the USA. In 2021, we will bring Select teams from a number of US states to Australia to compete in the inaugural Outback Invitational held in Melbourne, Australia.

Melbourne is the worlds sporting capital, it played host to the 1956 Olympics and is home to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Melbourne Cup (Australia’s version of the Kentucky Derby), Rip Curl Pro and the Australian Tennis Open. No less than 18 professional sports teams call Melbourne home, while their sports and entertainment precinct of four world class venues - Melbourne Cricket Ground, AAMI Park, Rod Laver Arena and Melbourne Arena - can accommodate over 150,000 fans at one time — needless to say, Melbourne is sports crazy

The Outback Invitational will be a basketball bonanza where teams will compete in four fully timed games of action across two days with a championship trophy awarded to the winner. The USA Select teams will compete against school and club teams from across Australia with a variety of experience. Many of the athletes you will compete against have international competition experiences from their USA tours or are eager to experience competition in the USA in the future.

Star international players such as Andrew Bogut, Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons and Penny Taylor all grew up in Melbourne, we look forward to seeing another future NBA or WNBA star in Melbourne next summer.

"Showtime was totally first class. I would highly recommend Showtime for your international tour experience"

"The trip was first class ... I'd travel with Showtime again in a heartbeat, Showtime is the only way to travel 'Down Under"
