Acquaint yourself with American history in Washington DC. Club and school teams are unable to play against DC schools, however games against neighbouring Virginian high schools are permitted. Virginia offers excellent basketball with games suitable for domestic through to state level teams readily available, many of which offer welcoming homestay and cultural experiences.

Most attractions in DC are on the National Mall. The Lincoln Memorial is a tribute to the 16th president; visit the home of the US president - The White House; and check out the Washington Monument. Other sites on the National Mall are the Smithsonian Institute, the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial – the site of his “I have a dream” speech - and the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Close by, there are several professional sports teams: See the Wizards in NBA action, the Redskins and Ravens of the NFL, along with several high-profile college programs.

DC is filled with memorials and museums for the people who made the USA what it is today, and is a must see for any group with an appetite for US history.
